The Virtuous Woman Proverbs 31 Talks About is a Woman After God’s Own Heart!
The virtuous woman proverbs 31 describes is a Godly woman who is all in for Jesus! She is a woman after God’s own heart.
We know the characteristics of the Virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31, and we all agree she is an amazing example of a Godly woman. Let’s learn from her example and ask God to teach us and mold our character to reflect a woman who glorifies God in the simplest ways.
How to Become a Godly Woman:
- Make the decision to follow Jesus!
- Put God first and choose Him daily.
- Study God’s Word and apply it to your life.
- Connect with God through prayer and praise.
- Protect your faith in Christ.
- Walk away from anything that would take you away from God.
- Reach towards the things that honors God.
- Stay connected to Jesus.
- Believe that Jesus is your source for all you need.
- Continually submit your life to Christ.
- Trust in the Lord with ALL of your heart.
- Obey God when He speaks.
A Godly Woman Follows Jesus!
A Godly woman has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of her life. She knows her hope comes from the Lord and she wants God to be the overseer of her life!
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
She Knows Her Identity is Found in Jesus Christ.
When we know what God says about us, we can live confidently in the Truth about how God sees us. We may not understand how God can see such great value and worth in us, but He sent Jesus to die on a cross for our sins, so that He could redeem us for His glory.
This is a mystery to me, but I am so glad that our Heavenly Father loves us unconditionally and gives us a NEW identity when we come to Jesus!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
She is a Beloved Child of God!
God lavishes His love on us that removes all fear, and He calls us His children. He protects us and keeps us in His loving arms, because He takes care of what belongs to Him!
1 John 3:1 tells us, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”
God Calls Her Righteous!
Sounds like a bold statement, doesn’t it? But it’s true!
It’s what God said about us in 2 Corinthians 5:21, He says that we ARE the righteousness of God when we live our lives IN Christ Jesus.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 31:10)
I can’t tell you that I fully understand how we, as children of God, could possibly be called “the righteousness of God”, by God Himself!? But I will tell you that we can fully believe it, because God said it! And He said it about all who claim the name of Jesus!
She Puts God first and chooses Him daily!
Her journey is not merely a one-time decision but a daily commitment – a conscious choice to put God first amidst the chaos that life brings. Each morning, she is intentional to invite God into her day, seeking His guidance in every area of her life.
We have been given a beautiful promise to those who choose to seek God first.
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
She Studies God’s Word and Applies it to Her Life.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments.” (Psalm 119:105-106)
In a world filled with distractions and competing priorities, she embraces the transformative power of placing her relationship with God above all else.
She Loves God’s Word because it is Life to Her.
Each day, she diligently studies God’s Word, because it brings life to her soul and wakes up her spirit, as she looks to Jesus Christ.
God’s Word is ALIVE and it brings spiritual life!
Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Yes, reading the Bible transforms our hearts and even our desires, because it reveals what our hearts really believe and seek after.
When we put our hearts in God’s hands, we allow God to mold our desires within us, so that we would reflect and shine the light of Jesus to the world around us!
As women of God, we are asking God to teach us how to learn from the example of the virtuous woman Proverbs 31 describes.
She Wants Her Heart to Look Like Jesus.
God gave us the Holy Bible to make us holy, and to mold us into the image of Jesus.
“Christian” means to be “Christ-like” and not just the looks on the outside, but the inner character of the heart.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
In this, we renew our mind by reading the Word of God and asking Him to change our hearts and mind.
She Connects with God Through Prayer and Praise!
She Knows God Hears Her Prayers
Praying is simply talking to God and communing with the Maker of heaven and earth!
Powerful prayer is when we speak the Word of God and make His words the declaration of our heart.
When God’s Truth becomes our desire, we will pray His Words, and we will have great confidence in prayer!
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
When we pray according to the Words that God has already spoken over us, we are actually claiming the promises of God for our lives!! And God honors that!
She Knows the Power of Praise.
A Godly woman knows there is power in praising the Lord – in good times and in hard times.
Praising God alone in our secret place elevates our thoughts and turns our minds towards the One who can help us in all of our troubles.
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
PSalm 121: 1-2
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.“
When we worship God we invite Him to come near. Not only does He come close to us while we praise and worship Him, but the Bible says that God is enthroned in the praises of His people. (Psalm 22:3)
What an awesome picture of God sitting on the throne of our praise! He is worthy!
A Godly Woman Protects Her Faith in Christ!
Put on the Full Armor of God Every Day.
In Ephesians 6, God commands us to put on the full armor of God to be able to withstand the schemes of the enemy. Now it is a simple concept of protection, but it is also a declaration of faith to remind our self (as well as the enemy of our souls) of WHO GOD IS and WHO WE ARE IN HIM! And that is powerful!
How to “Put On” the Full Armor of God:
- The Hemet of Salvation reminds us that we belong to God, and is protection for our minds.
- The Breast of Righteousness reminds us of our identity in Christ, and is protection for our hearts.
- With the Belt of Truth we declare that we life according to God’s Truth, and everything we say and do is filtered through the Truths found in scripture.
- With the Shoes of Peace we walk confidently in the way of the Lord and we bring the peace of God wherever we go.
- The Sheild of Faith is protection from the enemy, with it we extinguish fiery darts that would seek to diminish faith. But God is the shield all around us, and He lifts upholds us.
- The SWORD OF THE SPIRIT is employed when we apply the Word of God. Declaring and praying Scripture is like taking a sword out of its sheath, as we active faith in what God says!
- PRAYING IN THE HOLY SPIRIT happens when our prayers are aligned with God’s Word. Also, praying in our heavenly prayer language is mighty and powerful, because we pray the perfect prayers of God and satan cannot comprehend it.
Walk Away from Anything That Would Take Her Away from God.
She protects her faith because she knows that nothing in this life is worth compromising her relationship with Jesus.
God tells us all about the effects of practicing sin in our lives, in the book of James.
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” (James 1: 14-15)
Continual and willful sin leads to spiritual death.
Sin first starts in our mind and becomes a desire. Then a sinful desire grows to the point that it will eventually become a sinful action. We should be so careful to guard our hearts and mind, so that we do not entertain sinful desires.
She Reaches Towards What Honors God.
This world is full of temptations bombarding our minds, especially on social media. Even so, we do not have to fall into sin because we have the Holy Spirit inside of us teaching us how to live a holy life pleasing to God.
Galatians 5:16 tells us that if we “…Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
When we start our days by inviting God to come close, we put on the full armor of God and we choose to guard our heart and mind in Christ Jesus – we walk in the Spirit of God and we honor Him.
When we choose to walk in righteousness, we will not fulfil the lusts of this flesh and the sinful temptations that are in the world around us. Christ in us is greater than anything that surrounds us.
May our eyes ever be on Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfector of our faith!
She Stays Connected to Jesus!
She Know There is Abundant Life in Christ.
John 10:10 tells us that Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly.
There is abundant life in Jesus Christ. In Him we have hope, love, joy, peace and we find strength that believes God to do the impossible.
Everything that pertains to life and Godliness comes from Jesus, and He promises to make us partakers of this divine nature when we put our trust in Him!
She Knows that Jesus is Her Source.
She abides on the vine and remains connected to Jesus as her source for everything she needs.
Because she knows the life-giving properties of the Word of God, and the abundant life found in knowing Jesus, she stays connected to the life source.
John 15, Jesus said that He is the vine, and we are the branches. Apart from Jesus we can do nothing.
I pray we would choose Jesus every day, day by day, and stay connected to the source for all that we have need of.
A Godly Woman Continually Submits Her Life to Christ!
She Submits Her Life to God.
Job 22: 21-22 says, “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.”
She Chooses God’s Ways Over Her Own Ways.
God’s ways are higher than our ways.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Trust In the Lord with ALL of Your Heart!
Since we know that God wants the best for us, we can Trust God’s plan for our life.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
God promises to direct our paths when we place our trust in Jesus. Another version of this verse says, “He will make your paths straight.”
How reassuring that we have a Good Shepherd of our souls, leading us to accomplish everything He created us to do, for His glory to be revealed in the earth.
May we be like sheep in the hands of our Good Shepherd, trusting Him with our lives.
We can trust God to lead us on this journey of becoming a virtuous woman Proverbs 31 talks about. God is creating beautiful qualities in His daughters!
She Obeys God when He Speaks.
God says His sheep hear His voice and they follow Him. (John 10:27)
Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and we can trust Him to lead us on a good path, for our own good.
If we are actively walking with Jesus, He will not allow another to hijack His plans for us while we are walking on His path, He laid out for us.
Isaiah 30:21 tells us “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.”
When we are intentional to listen for God’s voice, we can be assured that He will speak to our hearts the way we ought to go.
May we walk in His ways, according to His Word and by His Holy Spirit!
