Cultivating a Pure Heart with the Word of God!
I love that God describes David as a man after His own heart. What kind of heart get God’s attention to say something so extraordinary? David knew the importance of crying out to God for a pure heart and clean hands. (Psalm 24:4)
David actually did some pretty harmful things to others (adultery, murder). But do you know what David did have going for him? David had a heart that always ran back to God. And when he ran back to God, he ran back in repentance, and with his WHOLE heart!
This is a perfect and practical life application for us who are aware of how human we can be. God calls us to live a life of holiness and seek righteousness, but we all have fallen short from time to time. I love that God’s Word is practical and makes “right living” an obtainable goal.
Learn God’s Word on the go!
Life is busy. For this reason, I love finding new ways to learn and meditate on Bible verses. I can pick up and put down these Truths, between household tasks and demanding children. To me, this method of memorization is my go-to recommendation for busy people in this modern over-stimulated world.
However, everyone learns differently.
Maybe you like to write out the scriptures in a journal.
Do you like to write a special verse on a flashcard or sticky note and take them around the house or in your car?
Maybe you like to pray the Truths of God’s Word
Maybe you like to read them out loudβ¦or express them with a new song, singing praises to the Lord!
I encourage all of the above! π
However, God leads you to learn His word, pursue it with all your heart.. and ask God to teach you how to apply them to your daily life. Watch God breathe life into your circumstances!
Lord God, may we learn how to cultivate pure hearts that are clean and sold-out to Your Truths, as we learn Your Word and cherish them.
Matthew 5:8 tells us, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
God said if our heart would be pure, we would be able to see Him. That is motivation enough to surrender to God.
